It may not have been the best conditions, drizzling very very light rain at one point :s but we managed to do our first cost of Rustoleum Combi paint - RAL 5015, thinned with homebase white spirit.
First we masking taped the edging around the top as we didn't want to go any further than the start of the angled part of the panels.
Had a quick look around, making sure that our Vactan rust treatment was smooth and ready to paint on.
We mixed up the paint once we opened it with some chopsticks?! The only stirring implement we could find :)
With not too much paint on the roller and the paint thinned to a thick-soup consistency. We rolled away. I found that your first roll on should be quite strong and then as you work down the panel go back to the bubbly-looking surface you previously painted and with only the weight of the roller itself (do not apply any more pressure than this) lightly roll over the area and watch the bubbles disappear! Only 2-3 swipes max otherwise you'll take the paint off and leave light patches.
You have to keep a steady pace as it doesn't wait around for you so once you start you can't really stop. As soon as you've done one panel/area leave it alone.
The rest of the pics show the first coat finished with/without the masking tape. Haven't done the surrounding area of the badges but will sort that next week, and the area at the front will be covered by bumper :) Not bad for our first go at this and only the first coat! But we did have the advantage of painting blue on white.
